A notable species indigenous to Morelos, Queretaro and San Luis Potosi known for its distinct white margins along the leaves that turn to grey over time. The toothiness of these margins are what earned its name in Latin meaning "prickly". Agave horrida is used in the production of "Mexcalli".
It produces a compact rosette of particularly prickly toothy leaves that can be roasted and consumed. The plant is resilient to dry conditions and moderate frost down to 25 degrees.
